The Importance of Timely Book Adoption

St. Thomas Campus Stores are here to work with faculty and staff to provide the lowest price and best customer service for students. With timely book adoptions, the Campus Stores can save most students over 25% off books compared to other national or online retailers.

Why is turning in your book order to the Campus Stores important?

  1. Better prices for students at sell back events
    • Retail prices can be over 50% higher than wholesale prices, so we pay more money to students when we have book adoptions before book buy back. The more books we buy at buy back, the lower the overall course material prices in upcoming semesters.
  2. Campus Stores are a competitive choice
    • The Campus Stores have lowered our prices between 10% and 15% on physical books in the last two years and will continue this trend.
    • We use a comparison tool that allows our prices to be lower or equal to online prices, when all factors are considered, such as taxes and shipping.
  3. Best price and availability of used books
    • Wholesalers have the best availability and offer the best price in the middle of the semester because demand is low. These savings are passed on to the students.
  4. Availability of books
    • 70% of the students at St. Thomas buy their books one month before a semester begins, so it is important to have as many books as we can on the shelves.
  5. More rental books at better prices
    • Our wholesalers offer best prices and selection to stores that submit their requests first.
  6. Support the Faculty with options for course materials
    • We communicate when we cannot find the editions requested in time to make a change.
    • Campus Stores takes care of all copyright clearance.
    • Multiple platforms available: New, used, rental books, E-books, Digital Direct, Open Educational Resources (OER), or a combination.
  7. Financing course materials
    • Financial Aid or eXpress card purchases can only be made at the Campus Stores.
      • Many students have to pay for course materials with financial aid or charge their student account, so they have to buy their course materials through the store.
      • 5% discount on course material when eXpress card is used.
    • Installments
      • Many students have used our rental program as an installment plan.
  8. Students helping students
    • Campus Stores employ students, so they can give our customers the best advice.

Providing the Campus Stores your book order in a timely manner will save students money.

Campus Stores staff are open to attending departmental meetings to elaborate or to answer questions.
